Columbian president Juan Manuel Santos on Tuesday rebuffed Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas who had travelled to Bogotá to secure support of his unilateral statehood bid at the United Nations.
Santos also offered to provide Colombian mediation of the crisis, noting that he had discussed the proposal with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Colombia is a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, where Abbas needs at least nine votes out of 15 - including positive recommendations from all five permanent members - for his statehood application to be accepted by the world body.
Top Syrian Cleric Warns of Suicide Bombs if West Attacks
Syria's top Sunni Muslim cleric has warned Western countries against military intervention, threatening to retaliate with suicide bombings in the United States and Europe if his country comes under attack.
Hassoun's comments follow another warning by Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem, who threatened "tough measures" against any country that recognizes the newly formed opposition Syrian National Council. Moallem called the group "illegitimate."

Buckle Up: America Is Getting Very Angry And Protests Are Going To Become Much More Frightening
The truth is that there is a lot of anger in the United States today, and that anger is rapidly growing. Millions upon millions of Americans are deeply upset about the economy and about our financial system.
Right now, protests by both the Tea Party movement and Occupy Wall Street have been mostly peaceful.
The home protests were not spontaneous. The truth is that they were highly organized. Organizers such as SEIU board member Stephen Lerner have been talking about them for quite some time. In fact, you can hear him discussing plans for the upcoming protests at the homes of these millionaires back on October 3rd right here.
Some interesting data below:
*A recent Rasmussen survey found that 85 percent of Americans believe that members of Congress "are more interested in helping their own careers than in helping other people", and that same survey found that 46 percent of the American people believe that most members of Congress are corrupt.
*According to a different Rasmussen survey, only 17 percent of all Americans now believe that the U.S. government has the consent of the governed.
*A recent Washington Post poll found that 78 percent of Americans are dissatisfied "with the way this country’s political system is working" and that only 26 percent of Americans now believe that the federal government can solve the economic problems that we are facing.
The conclusion?
So what does all of that add up to?
It adds up to a U.S. population that is very frustrated and that is looking for outlets for that frustration.
As the U.S. economy continues to fall apart, that frustration is going to continue to rise.
What we are seeing all across America is only the beginning. We are going to see protest movements and explosions of anger that we can't even imagine right now.
Dark days are coming for America.

Socialists Exploit OWS to Push "Millionaires March"
Instead of demanding Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon and the conspirators at Goldman Sachs and the Federal Reserve be arrested for financial crimes against humanity, the OWS socialists will march on the homes of a handful of wealthy people in New York and demand the state not repeal a 2 percent tax and the rich pay a “fair share” of taxes.
The march was organized by Working Families Party, New York Communities for Change, Strong Economy for All and United NY, members of the Occupy Wall Street movement.
As we noted last week, the Working Families Party is a spin-off of the New Party, a now defunct organization founded by the Democratic Socialists of America. It gets support from SEIU, a labor union that has used violence against its opponents. The former boss of SEIU, Andy Stern, is an Obama confidant.
New York Communities for Change is the new name for the scandal-ridden ACORN, an organization founded by Wade Rathke, a veteran of the Maoist oriented Students for a Democratic Society, or SDS, in league with organizers of Saul Alinsky’s Industrial Areas Foundation. Chicago community groups like the IAF are known for taking money from the globalist Ford Foundation.

"Occupy Wall Street" to Push for Global Tax
Jumping on the anti-Wall Street media bandwagon, Josh Boak of Politico says Democratic Rep. Peter DeFazio’s measure to tax Wall Street has “newfound momentum.” The Soros-funded Think Progress blog quickly jumped on the report, saying the plan is being seriously considered on the Hill. There is only one problem: DeFazio hasn’t introduced any such bill in the current Congress.
Despite the hype from Politico, the issue is a real one. And the threat is not only a “Wall Street financial transactions tax” that could affect ordinary investors but a global tax to finance various international agencies and causes.
It’s just a “tiny tax,” say proponents, that has the support of billionaire Bill Gates and can generate $100 billion a year. A global tax on financial transactions could generate at least $700 billion a year from the U.S. and other “rich” countries.

So What Do The Occupy D.C. Protestors Really Want?
The Occupy Wall Street protest movement has spread across the country and has supporters worldwide, but its rank-and-file still seem to have trouble answering a simple question: What do you want?
Occupy Wall Street and its satellite protests around the country have the same hand signals, slogans, and General Assembly procedures. We know they claim to represent the “99 percent” and they believe “Banks got bailed out we got sold out.” But after that, the details get hazy.

To get a sense of what at least one Occupy protest group thinks, some right-wingers infiltrated Occupy DC. The result was humorous and enlightening, though it didn’t seem to build any bridges.

But on the ground at the epicentre of the Occupy Wall Street demonstration, a closer look at some of the impassioned protesters is starting to suggest that while many of them have genuine grievances, all may not be completely as advertised.
The flash of a designer belt, a watch or even, in one case, a huge wad of cash reveals many activists are not quite so hard done by.
As millionaire celebrities pledged allegiance to the protesters despite very healthy bank balances, MailOnline spoke to youngsters who have joined the movement, many of whom study at colleges which cost their parents up to $200,000.
While they dress down to blend in, the youngsters' privileged backgrounds are revealed by glimpses of expensive gadgetry or the absent minded mention of their private schools during heated political debates.

Tea Partiers "invade" Occupy D.C. Protest
What happens when the Tea Party invades the seemingly never-ending “Occupy” protest movement? Until now, this question has been left to the whims of the imagination. But over the weekend, Accuracy in Media, Let Freedom Ring and Young America’s Foundation joined forces to infiltrate ”Occupy D.C.”
As you can imagine, the results are quite hilarious, as the Tea Party counter-protesters state their love for capitalism, holding signs that read, “Taxed Enough Already” and “Unions Destroy Jobs,” among others. The patriotic young men, who are predictably met with anger, hand out Constitutions to the “Occupiers,” while defending capitalism (Meredith Jessup covered this on the blog as well).
