Washington Post: Christians riot in Pakistan after attacks targeting churches kill 14

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan — Christians rampaged through the streets of Lahore on Sunday after suicide bombers attacked two churches during morning services, killing at least 14 people and wounding more than 70.

The Pakistani Taliban took credit for the attacks, reviving concerns that the Islamist militant group will increasingly target religious minorities in a bid to further divide Pakistanis and distract them from ongoing military operations against extremists.

Taliban Launches Suicide Attacks Against Police Forces In Afghanistan And Pakistan

Reuters: Afghan, Pakistan Taliban kill 28 in attacks on provincial police HQs

(Reuters) - Four suicide attackers on Tuesday stormed a provincial police headquarters in eastern Afghanistan, killing 22 police, an official said. Taliban insurgents immediately claimed responsibility.

The attack in Logar province outside the capital, Kabul, was the latest to target Afghan security forces following the withdrawal of most foreign combat troops at the end of last year.

In neighbouring Pakistan, another Taliban suicide attack on a provincial police headquarters killed at least seven people in the eastern city of Lahore, in what militants called a revenge bid for the recent hangings of their colleagues.

Pakistan Gunmen Kill Four Polio Workers In Quetta -- BBC

Four polio vaccination workers have been shot dead and three injured in the south-west Pakistani city of Quetta.

Police said the three female health workers and their male driver were attacked by two gunmen on a motorbike. Anti-polio efforts in the province have been suspended, the authorities say.

The shootings are the latest in a series targeting Pakistani polio teams. No group has claimed responsibility.

Militants say polio teams are spies or that the vaccine causes infertility.

Pakistan is one of only three countries where the disease is still endemic, the others being Nigeria and Afghanistan.
