Turkey expels Israel envoy after Gaza flotilla report
Turkey has decided to downgrade its diplomatic ties with Israel to the lowest possible level, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on Friday, following Israel's continued refusal to apologize for a 2010 raid on a Gaza-bound aid flotilla.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Davutoglu announced the downscale of diplomatic relations with Jerusalem, saying the move was a direct response to Israel's refusal to apologize for the deaths of nine Turkish nationals in the May 2010 raid.
"Israel squandered all of the opportunities to end the crisis, and now it must pay for it," Davutoglu said, adding that Turkey's official position was that Israel's blockade on the Gaza Strip was illegal, despite the fact that the UN report supported its legality.

Earthquake in L.A.?
L.A. earthquake: Quake was strongest in more than a year
The 4.2 earthquake that shook parts of Los Angeles on Thursday was the largest in the Southern California quake region in more than a year.
In the article we get this stark reminder - suggesting the possibility that the quake could be an early warning:
The last major quake to be felt in Los Angeles was the 7.2 Easter Sunday quake of 2010, which struck the California-Mexico border on April 4, 2010.
Several weeks before that, a predawn 4.4 quake hit Pico Rivera, and in May 2009, a 4.7 earthquake in Inglewood shattered windows close to the epicenter.
The quake was followed by several aftershocks.
NASA Sees Katia Become Second Atlantic Hurricane
The second Atlantic Ocean Hurricane was born today, Sept. 1 as Katia strengthened from a tropical storm in the central Atlantic. NASA's TRMM satellite noticed towering thunderstorms within Katia yesterday which clued forecasters that she would become a hurricane today.
Katia is a now a Category one hurricane and is expected to bend north-northwest and miss the Leeward Islands. Maximum sustained winds are near 75 mph (120 kmh) with higher gusts, and some strengthening is forecast over the weekend.
The National Hurricane Center said Katia is forecast to become a major hurricane on Sunday with winds over 111 mph. It will be between Puerto Rico and Bermuda so NASA will be watching it for the next week.
Tropical Warnings for Gulf
A slow-moving tropical system packing walloping rains is slogging its way to the Gulf coast, which could be drenched with up to 20 inches, leading Louisiana's governor to declare a state of emergency Thursday because of the threat of flash flooding.
Tropical storm warnings are out from Mississippi to Texas including New Orleans. The National Hurricane Center said the system that is now a depression in the Gulf of Mexico will dump 10 to 15 inches of rain over southern areas of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama through Sunday and as much as 20 inches in some spots. By Friday, it could become Tropical Storm Lee, the 12th named storm of the season.
New evidence of a massive oil slick near Deepwater Horizon site
A California nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection and preservation of wildlife has discovered what seems to be a massive oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico near the area of the original Deepwater Horizon spill.
In a flight over the Gulf Tuesday, OnWingsOfCare.org founder and pilot Dr. Bonny Schumaker spotted an oil slick that stretched for nearly 10 miles.
Last week, two Louisiana State University men took a boat into the Gulf and returned with video evidence of large blooms of crude oil swelling up to the water’s surface where the doomed oil rig once hovered.
Is the Energy Grid Safe From Cyber Attack?
"We are now at a sustained back-and-forth between the powers that are trying to attack these systems, and forces aligned to defend them," Bochman said.
While that statement may sound a bit like a sci-fi plot, the reality is that utilities across the country have seen a big increase in deliberate attacks, as well as inadvertent screw-ups that have thrown thousands of customers into the dark.
The following is a fascinating article regarding world-wide money which is 'privatized' and a movement to allow central governments to control. This is long but fascinating article. Anytime I see a proposal to radically change the monetary system on a world-wide basis, I stop and take notice:
Red Alert: New Political Movement For Sound Money To Be Launched In Vienna
The fact that our money is created with interest logically, necessarily and unavoidably leads to a collapse of the financial system after a certain period of time. China is the only major economy right now printing money without charging interest – and that is why China’s economy is booming and there is no end in sight to that boom.
The root cause of the debt smothering the eurozone and the USA is the way our money system has been privatised by stealth. The controlled mainstream media conceals who the real winners from privatising our money supply are from the public. The media also conceals the fact that such a privatised money system is necessarily doomed to collapse.
And never has the state been so in debt while spending so little on its people. Where is all the money going? To the banking cartel. Only the stealth privatisation of our money system means people are being hoodwinked.
We have to reform our money system root and branch. We have to switch to public money which is free for everyone to use. Money has to be a public service supplied by the government for free again.
Thomas Jefferson issued a dire warning of what would happen if America’s money supply was privatised – and he has been proved to be right. The privatisation of the Federal Reserve is the root cause of the wreckage of the US economy and dollar today.
Don't test us, Israel army chief warns Gaza militants
Israel's top military chief has warned Gaza militants not to "test" Israel's strength as troops and police remained on high alert on Wednesday over warnings of a planned attack from Sinai.
The military two days earlier raised the level of alert on the Israel-Egypt border and around Gaza following specific intelligence warnings that militants were planning a fresh attack on south Israel along the lines of a series of deadly ambushes on August 18.
"Hamas and other terrorist organisations in Gaza must know that they are wrong to test our strength and that any attempt to harm the citizens of Israel will result in a severe response," chief of staff Benny Gantz said in remarks released by the army.
Israeli press reports speculated that Gazan groups were planning fresh attacks to avenge the deaths of those killed in the Israeli strikes.
In a separate development, the navy on Tuesday deployed two missile boats just outside Eilat in what the military said was part of a "routine exercise."
Israeli press reports said it was unlikely the boats' deployment was linked to the high state of alert in the south.
But it came as Tehran's top naval commander said Iran had dispatched a submarine and a warship to the Red Sea on a "patrol mission," state television reported.
