WNU Editor: I doubt that Ukraine security forces were involved in this "hit" .... they are staying in their foxholes and are rarely venturing out of their FOBs .... my money is on this being an internal settling of accounts. Am I surprised .... no .... dissension in the military rebel ranks in eastern Ukraine is nothing new .... even the killing of fellow commanders. But (from what I am reading .... the Ukraine and Russian press/social media) this infighting has gotten severe in the past few weeks. My guess (and I am speculating now) is that the truce has resulted in a situation where everyone has a lot of free time on their hands, and some are now solving their disagreements through bloodshed. My prediction ... this infighting is going to get worse ... unless (of course) Ukraine launches another major offensive, or Russia gets directly involved in deciding which rebel groups will receive support (and who will not). But for the moment ... Ukraine does not have the military means to defeat the rebels, and Moscow has shown a deep reluctance to get even more involved, preferring a diplomatic solution over a military one. As a result we now have a stalemate .... we also have a situation where there is a lot of free time for soldiers with loaded weapons who have nothing to do.
