In The News:

Another day of news and another day of signs that we have been given to watch:

A Day Of Solidarity With Persecuted Christians

Each year in Vienna, Austria, Christian Solidarity International,www.csi.or.at organises an event day for the sake of persectuted Christians on December 10th, the day of the Universal Human Rights Declaration. The first event of the day was a press conference featuring Sabatina James, an aposstate from Islam who now, at the age of 30, has dedicated her life to protect Islamic women and help them to gain independence in parts of the world generally patriachial to the extreme. Predictably, Islamists in several countries disagree intensely with her activities, creating a constant need for bodyguards and police protection.

A leaflet distributed by the Platform for Solidarity with Persecuted Christians raised these demands:
  • Egypt: An end to the almost daily abductions of Coptic girls, who are being forced to Islam, prostitution or involuntary marriage. That the police no longer turns a blind eye to this, but instead make sure that Christians can live in safety.
  • Pakistan: Abolishment of the blasphemy law (capital punishment for insulting the 'prophet' Muhammad).
  • Nigeria: An end to the Sharia practices (chopping off hands for simple theft, stoning for extra-martial relations), protection against the Islamist terrorism of Boko Haram.
  • Syria: Stopping the practice of driving Christians from their apartments, businesses and churches, dialogue instead of terror.
  • Full equal rights and faith freedom for Christians, also in Europe, where discrimination against Christians is on the rise, as also pointed out recently by the OSCE.
  • Rights for Christians to construct churches and publicly express their Christian faith.
  • An unconditionally political effort for human rights by our governments and EU.

Welcome To Morsi's Egypt: Christian Sentenced To 3 Years In Prison

On Thursday an Egyptian court sentenced Alber Saber to three years in prison for insulting Islam. These types of blasphemy prosecution cases have been on the rise since Hosni Mubarak’s ouster and are only likely to intensify if the country’s draft constitution is approved.
Saber, who himself is Christian, was reportedly convicted for a video he produced in which he was criticized of organized religion, likely Islam. Human rights advocates are up in arms, but in a country where the a self-proclaimed dictator has vowed to frame the country’s constitution around shariah law, the cries of those who oppose this kind of barbarism will likely go unaddressed.
“It’s a heavy sentence, and any independent court looking into the case would release him because there are huge procedural mistakes … never mind that this is actually a crime that shouldn’t be on the books to begin with,” said Amr Gharbeia, civil liberties director at the Egyptian Initiative for Personal Rights.

Muslims Riot, Jews Banned From Temple Mount

Jews have been barred from the Temple Mount in Jerusalem until Sunday, the last day of Hannukah. The Temple Mount is the holiest site on earth according to Jewish tradition.

The ban is aimed at preventing a Muslim riot at the site. Riots are thought to be particularly likely following Friday prayers.

It follows riots and terror attacks in Judea and Samaria. Tensions were particularly high following two incidents in which soldiers shot Arab attackers in Hevron.

Jewish organizations dedicated to Temple Mount activism expressed upset at the police ban. “The police treat the Temple Mount like a Muslim site, and open it to others only when necessary for tourism, at times and on days that suit tourists,” activists accused.

Currently Jewish prayer is not allowed on the Temple Mount, again for fear of Muslim reactions. Jews are allowed to visit the holy site but can be arrested for praying or even moving their lips in what appears to be prayer.

IDF On High Alert Following Hevron Incidents

The IDF and the police will be on high alert Friday, following a series of attempted terror attacks and riots in the Hevron area.
According to a report on Channel 2 News, there will be an increased presence of soldiers and officers around Judea and Samaria, and especially in Hevron, at the end of Friday prayers in the mosques.

Earlier on Thursday, terrorists threw a firebomb at an IDF position in the city. There were no injuries or damages.
Also on Thursday, three firebombs were thrown at an Israeli car travelling near Al-Khader, west of Bethlehem. There were no injuries or damages.
Palestinian Authority Arabs rioted Thursday in Hevron, where they hurled rocks and bottles at Israeli soldiers. IDF troops responded with mob control methods that included the use of tear gas.

Strong Earthquakes Off The Coast Of California

6.3 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Baja California Two strong earthquakes just hit far off the California – Baja  California coast, the first one being a 6.3 at a depth of 10km and 262km from land, the second one with a magnitude of 6.1 at a depth of 11 km and closer but still not dangerous distance of 142km. Both earthquakes are preliminary magnitudes. Theorical calculations from the USGS are showing that 1,735,000 people would have felt a IV shaking on the mercalli scale (light shaking) for the second earthquake, this shaking includes the cities of Rancho Palos Verdes and Long Beach, California; and a II-III (Weak shaking) for at least 9 millon people including the cities of Los Angeles, Anaheim, Santa Ana and Riverside.

The Syrian Chemical Weapons Saga: The Staging Of A US-NATO Sponsored Humanitarian Disaster?

If the Obama administration were genuinely concerned in preventing these chemical weapons from falling “in the wrong hands” (as suggested by the Pentagon in August), why then are they now training “opposition rebels” –largely composed of Salafist and Al Qaeda affiliated fighters– to gain control over government stockpiles of chemical weapons?
The training [in chemical weapons], which is taking place in Jordan and Turkey, involves how to monitor and secure stockpiles and handle weapons sites and materials, according to the sources. Some of the contractors are on the ground in Syria working with the rebels to monitor some of the sites, according to one of the officials.
The nationality of the trainers was not disclosed, though the officials cautioned against assuming all are American. (CNN, December 09, 2012)
While the news report does not confirm the identity of the defense contractors, the official statements suggest a close contractual relationship to the Pentagon:
The US decision to hire unaccountable defense contractors to train Syrian rebels to handle stockpiles of chemical weapons seems dangerously irresponsible in the extreme, especially considering how inept Washington has so far been at making sure only trustworthy, secular rebels – to the extent they exist – receive their aid and the weapons that allies in the Gulf Arab states have been providing.
It also feeds accusations that the Syrian Foreign Ministry recently made that the US is working to frame the Syrian regime as having used or prepared for chemical warfare.
“What raises concerns about this news circulated by the media is ourserious fear that some of the countries backing terrorism and terrorists might provide the armed terrorist groups with chemical weapons and claim that it was the Syrian government that used the weapons,” the letters said.”( John Glaser, Us Defense Contractors Training Syrian Rebels, Antiwar.com, December 10, 2012, See also CNN Report, December 9, 2012)
The central question is: what is the nature of this gruesome covert operation? Is the purpose of the US-NATO led operation to “prevent” or “encourage” the use of chemical weapons by the Free Syrian Army (FSA)?
The above report confirms that the US and NATO are training terrorists in the use of chemical weapons.
Does this type of specialized training require the actual handling of toxic chemicals? In other words, is the Western military alliance, through its appointed defense contractors, making chemical weapons available to terrorists for training purposes?
Knowing that the Syrian insurgency is in large part made up of jihadists and Al Qaeda affiliated formations, this is hardly a means to “preventing” the actual use of chemical weapons against civilians.
Moreover, amply documented, many of the “opposition” rebels who are receiving training in chemical weapons, have committed countless atrocities directed against Syrian civilians, including the massacres in Houla:
