Kenya Talks Collapse As Police Use Tear Gas To Break Up Demo

Talks between the Kenyan government and opposition failed to reach agreement today, raising fears of a return to the brutal post-election ethnic bloodletting which killed more than 500.

As police used tear-gas to scatter a crowd of female opposition demonstrators marching through the capital Nairobi, the departing African Union (AU) chairman left the country with officials saying that he had "failed to break the deadlock" between the two sides.

My Comment: The history of different "tribes" in Africa comprising with each other on political matters ..... this is not going to happen. The fact that these talks broke down is a portend for increasing violence in one of the most beautiful countries in Africa.

My Second Comment: Former U.N. Sec. Gen. Kofi Annan going to Kenya to mediate .... this is a waste of time and resources.
