Despite the fact that Egypt has maintained the peace deal with Israel since 1979, a transfer of such advanced weapons “would degrade Israel’s qualitative military edge,” said the report, titled “Egypt’s arms deal with Russia: Potential Strategic Costs,” by David Schenker and Eric Trager.
Egypt completed a $2 billion arms deal with Russia, financed by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, an Egyptian newspaper reported last month.
Asked if the US might take punitive action against Egypt if such advanced weaponry were included, Schenker, the director of the Program on Arab Politics and a senior fellow at The Washington Institute for Near East Policy, told The Jerusalem Post that the US would hold off until it can confirm such purchases.
“I would be surprised, though, if US diplomats are not speaking with their counterparts in Egypt about this and conveying concerns and potential consequences should these purchases actually occur,” he said.
Egypt’s moves to improve relations with Russia are seen as a way to counter the threat of US pressure. The US partial aid and weapons freeze was largely seen to be a punishment for the military coup and crackdown on former presidentMohamed Morsi and his supporters.
A ship allegedly carrying advanced rockets from Iran to Gaza that was intercepted by the Israeli navy will reach the port of Eilat on Saturday evening, the military said.
“This ship, which was transporting dozens of M302-type rockets with a range of 150 to 200 kilometers (more than 100 miles) is currently north of Port Sudan and will arrive in Eilat on Saturday evening,” Brigadier General Motti Almoz told military radio Thursday.
“The ship may be carrying other weapons as well but we can only know this when it reaches Eilat,” he said, referring to the resort city at the southernmost tip of Israel.
“There is clear and unequivocal information that this (shipment) came from Iran,” he said, without giving further details.
Major General Aviv Kochavi, head of military intelligence, was to give a news conference on the ship later Thursday. The military has said it was carrying rockets “capable of striking anywhere in Israel.”
The last time a leaked phone call out of Ukraine was released about a month ago ostensibly by the Russian NSA equivalent, one between US assistant sec state Victoria Nuland and the US envoy to the Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt, it was revealed that the real puppet masters behind the Maidan movement, and the true instigators of the Ukraine "revolution" were none other than the "developed" world superpowers, lead by the US. Also revealed were tensions between the US and EU strategies on how to overthrow the current government, culminating with the infamous "Fuck the EU." Needless to say the US, which implicitly confirmed the recording, was angry at Russia and accused it of using dirty tricks.
That's ironic, because when it comes to "dirty tricks" what is about to be presented, blows the top off anything Russia may or has done to date.
Earlier today an even more shocking recording has been "leaked" this time one between the always concerned about human rights EU foreign affairs chief Catherine Ashton and Estonian foreign minister Urmas Paet, in which it is revealed on tape that all those photos of horrifying deaths of Ukrainians by snipers during the last days of the Median stand off, were in fact caused not by Snipers controlled by Yanukovich, but that the snipers shot at both protesters and police in Kiev were allegedly hired by Maidan leaders!
Here is the key exchange, just after 8 minutes into the conversation :
Paet: "All the evidence shows that people who were killed by snipers from both sides, policemen and people from the streets, that they were the same snipers killing people from both sides. ... Some photos that showed it is the same handwriting, the same type of bullets, and it is really disturbing that now the new coalition they don't want to investigate what exactly happened. So there is now stronger and stronger understanding that behind the snipers, it was not Yanukovych, but it was somebody from the new coalition."
Ashton: "I think we do want to investigate. I mean, I didn’t pick that up, that’s interesting. Gosh."
Paet: "It already discreditates (sic) this new coalition."
So first US orchestrates the Kiev overthrow, and now the new "leaders" of Ukraine are allegedly found to have fired against their own people - the same provocation they subsequently used to run Yanukovich out of the country and install a pro-Western puppet government. Of course, said pro-Western coalition has not been discreditated (sic) because Ms. Ashton has sternly refused to investigate, knowing quite well how horribly this would reflect on the new Ukraine "leadership" - a government which shot its own people to fabricate the pretext under which it rose to power.
Is it any wonder then that Russia has responded the way it has?
As for at least one of the affected parties, Estonia, it has just confirmed the authenticity of the recording, and the ministry of foreign affairs has organized a press conference to answer media questions today at 5 pm. From the Valisministeerium:

Paet and Ashton conversation took place on 26 February, following Estonia's Foreign Minister's visit to Ukraine, and immediately after the end of the street violence.
Foreign Minister Paet communicate what he had said about the meetings held in Kiev last day and expressed concern about the situation.
"It is extremely regrettable that such an interception is occurring at all""said Paet., Including its call for today's photos are not random," he added.
While Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has spent his past few weeks bashing the billionaire philanthropists Charles and David Koch, he has somehow forgot to mention liberal billionaire George Soros, whose money may be behind the recent controversial government study of newsrooms.
The study, ordered by the Federal Communications Commission, sought insight on how journalists and management determined a station’s news coverage. The study was highly criticized as a government attempt to regulate how newsrooms operate, and the FCC quietly killed the project in late February.
The Washington Examiner’s Byron York said on “Fox and Friends” Wednesday that the journalism schools involved with the FCC’s study were both recipients of large sums from the liberal Soros. Soros’ organization Open Societies Foundation gave $1.4 million to the University of Wisconsin’s journalism school, and $195,000 to journalism school at the University of Southern California.
“There seems to be a Democratic plan to target somebody every few years,” York said, citing Democrats’ attacks on the Chamber of Commerce in 2010 and the Kochs in 2012.

This has nothing to do with putting Putin in his place, as if we are in any position to do so. It’s theater, especially since I believe that not only did Obama know this was coming four months ago, he’s got an agreement with Putin and is carrying out an agenda. Obama, Kerry, Clinton and the rest don’t give a ___ about the Ukraine. They don’t give a fig for Europe either. They care about saving their wealth, power and status. Now you see Hillary comparing Putin to Hitler – legitimizing whatever the Progressives do financially or militarily. It’s just words and hype – a wink among comrades. We’ve already promised 1 billion to the Ukraine and Europe promised 15 billion this morning. With what money? Fire up the printing presses boys and load up on ink and paper!
Clinton made her comments at a private event benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Long Beach.
“Now if this sounds familiar, it’s what Hitler did back in the 30s,” she said. “All the Germans that were … the ethnic Germans, the Germans by ancestry who were in places like Czechoslovakia and Romania and other places, Hitler kept saying they’re not being treated right. I must go and protect my people and that’s what’s gotten everybody so nervous.”
Why, Hillary… I thought you said the Cold War was ancient history? Hmmm. Evidently, only when it suits your current agenda. One wonders if all of this is to appear to save the day diplomatically in the end via the US cavalry, or to lay the groundwork for war. Probably, whichever benefits the Marxists the most. Hillary is quite aware that Russia intends to extend their reach throughout Europe, with a little help from the Germans.
Meanwhile, in Russia… they test fired an IBCM yesterday, with the US claiming it was scheduled before all of this and it was routine. The Russian Defence Ministry could not be reached for comment. You know, that’s what tyrants tell us every time. Do you think anyone seriously believes you?
Putin is still building his nuclear arsenal while we have drastically cut ours. He is showing us that if we get into a pissing contest with him, he will flatten us. He considers Obama very weak and the US as no threat at all anymore. Obama is simply a useful tool to Putin and expendable in the end. He’s not alone. China thinks we are joke and Iran is outright deriding and laughing at us.
Today, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says they now have multiple warhead missiles. I’m sure they had a little help from their Iranian and Chinese friends. It’s all in the New Axis of Evil family – sharing is caring after all. At a ceremony on Wednesday, Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan presented four types of ballistic missiles — named Qiam, Qadr H1, Fateh-110 and Persian Gulf. The Qadr H1 and Qiam, he said, are equipped with multiple warheads, greatly boosting their destructive power. They are specifically built to target U.S. bases in the region.
And it gets even worse. While Obama is busy threatening Israel if they don’t accept his 2-state suicidal farce, Iran is really arming up Hamas with the gift of death for the Jews. This morning, the IDF intercepted a massive Gaza-bound Iranian arms shipment to Hamas via the Red Sea:

Most competent historians can trace the decline of the West to World War I, which started 100 years ago. The slaughter on the fields of Flanders, the subsequent influenza epidemic, the dissolution of centuries-old European monarchies and empires, and a global depression, led to a sort of cultural post traumatic stress syndrome after the war.
All the more amazing is that the West had totally won the war. All the retrograde powers had been defeated. The victors were America, France, and Britain, the very core of the Western ideal. They were uncontested and unbeatable.
But the victory was Pyrrhic. It had come at such a fearsome price that victory had not proved a vindication of Western ideals, but had caused many to question their merit. The resulting lack of confidence caused the West to lack the resolve to put down extremism in Russia, though it could have done so easily in 1918. European forces would abandon a hard won Constantinople -- an historic Christian seat -- and let the Turkish Muslims retake it in 1923.
Islam, which had been brought to the edge of collapse, was given a breather to recover. Peoples of color would lose all respect for the white man when their volunteer soldiers came home from the bloodbath. White claims of superiority were shown to be a lie after Africans, Asians, and Arabs had seen whites slaughter each other by the millions.
Atheism came into vogue in Europe after World War I, and never left. The clergy of each particular nation had supported the war, and encouraged men off to their deaths. To the Europeans, God had died on Flanders' fields. Europe is now post-Christian.
Rather than democracy being triumphant, totalitarianism arose, far more fearsome and savage than anything that had come out of the tyrannies of the Czar or the autocracy of the Kaiser. Lenin would replace the Czar, and eventually, Hitler the Kaiser.
Here in America, because of our brief participation in the Great War, and relatively minor losses, the full aspect of the catastrophe was not felt. We obsess over World War II, not realizing that the real disaster was the Great War, without which no Second World War would have occurred.
We had no soul searching to do. Europe broke down.
When WWI ended, European society would be forever broken. It has not recovered. Right now, demographic rates show that Europe is not even reproducing itself at replacement levels. Europe has lost the will to live.
Patriotism is all but dead in Western Europe.
Religion is dead. Most West European nations are nowhere near American church attendance.
It is easy for us Americans to criticize the Europeans; but we did not go through the horrors of the Napoleonic Wars, World War I, and World War II in our own backyard. 58,000 dead in Vietnam over a decade was enough to bring us Americans to social disruption. Europe saw that many die in one day during the Napoleonic Wars at Borodino.
Starting in 1914, Western Civilization collapsed. Even the victory of 1918 by the Allies could not hide the damage. Since then, despite its rising prosperity, the West has lost the will to live… as evinced by it collapsing demographic – and abortion rates where the West kills its unborn.
We in America are presently the last redoubt of the West. We may not be in as severe a retreat as the rest of the West, but we are retreating. We have to do some serious soul searching if Western Civilization is to survive. Europe may be lost.
