Typical Gaza 'Ceasefire' - Kassam Hits Western Negev

Gaza terrorists attacked the Eshkolregion in the western Negev around 7:45 Tuesday, hours after a “ceasefire” officially went into effect.

Ceasefire usually end up being a period of "calm" in which Gaza terrorists occasionally fire short-range Kassam rockets on rural areas.

Hamas had demanded that Israel promise to halt pre-emptive counterterrorist operations against “ticking bomb” terrorists but settled for a ceasefire without Israel’s agreeing to the condition.

As with previous resumptions of missile attacks from Gaza, the latest barrage appeared to continue until Israel was seriously thinking of sending troops into Gaza, a scenario that neither Hamas not Israel wants.

One of the strongest deterrents to continued rocket attacks is the Iron Dome anti-missile system, which scored a remarkable success rate in intercepting missiles before they could explode in urban areas.

If Hamas had wanted to face the IDF within Gaza, it easily could have launched longer-range missiles that could strike metropolitan Tel Aviv. Instead, it apparently has backed off and settled for another round of tit-for-tat missile attacks and retaliation, except this time around, Israel sustained relatively little damage while the IDF succeeded in killing more than 20 terrorists with only a minimum number of civilian casualties.

Gaza terrorists attacked the western Negev with five mortar shells around noon Tuesday, lowering the intensity of attacks but breaking the ceasefire.

Tuesday’s mortar shells exploded in open areas and caused no damage but set off an angry response by Eshkol Regional Council leader Chaim Jelin, who criticized the Israeli government for not dealing with the attacks in the same way it responds to missile strikes on cities.

Several mortar shells previously have scored direct hits on buildings and have causedinjuries and deaths.

The western Negev has sustained thousands of mortar shell attacks for more than a decade, especially since 2005, when the IDF withdrew from Gaza under the Disengagement program that expelled all Jews from Gaza, and area residents were not surprised at the continuation of attacks near their homes.

Dozens of Israelis were wounded this week as 222 rockets struck across the northern Negev and parts of the coastal plain, and nearly one million civilians were forced to spend most of their time in bomb shelters. Schools in the area have been closed all week, and Israel's emotional crisis hotline, Eran, recorded a 150 percent increase in calls.

Israeli army chief Gen. Benny Gantz said Israel would halt its retaliatory air strikes as long the terrorists cease launching rockets into southern Israel. "Quiet will be answered with quiet, and fire will be answered with fire," said Gantz.

The Islamists that now dominate Egypt's parliament did not care about the identities of the dead Palestinians, nor that Israel's military leaders had expressed regret over having to fight among civilian populations. The Egyptian parliament viewed Israel's strikes on Gaza as nothing short of war crimes and on Monday voted unanimously to expel Israel's ambassador from Cairo.

"Egypt will never be the friend, partner or ally of the Zionist entity which we consider as the first enemy of Egypt and the Arab nation," read the text of the motion approved by Egyptian lawmakers.

As the debate rages between Washington and Israel over whether to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities, U.S. intelligence sources tellJoseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin that Israel has decided to conduct long-range missions with U.S.-supplied F-15 jets in what Israeli officials say are practice runs leading up to a possible attack.

“Not sure if the flights are supposed to be a message, per se (to the Iranians), but at some point they’ve got to get off the simulators and do it in the real airplane,” said one source who also pointed to preparations continuing with arming and fueling Israel’s nuclear-capable Jericho II missiles.

Until now, the Israeli Air Force has been practicing on simulators which, a source said, was to hide preparations from U.S. detection of “Indications and Warnings” of impending conflicts.

A former senior Pentagon official told radio talk-show host Glenn Beck where to find the shocking truth about billionaire George Soros’ influence on President Obama’s decision to deploy U.S. troops to Uganda – as he directed Beck’s listeners to WND.

On the March 9 GBTV show, retired Gen. Jerry Boykin, the former U.S. deputy under secretary of defense for intelligence – who has played a part in nearly every recent major U.S. military operation in the last four decades – said of WND’s Aaron Klein:

He shows that there’s a more sinister side to this. And that is a George Soros connection to the whole influence on the administration of deploying U.S. military forces in there, certainly under the guise of going after Joseph Kony [leader of the rebel Lord's Resistance Army accused of major human rights atrocities], but I think there is some very good information in that article that shows there is a Soros connection to this whole thing. And, fundamentally, it’s about oil.

In the Oct. 15, 2011, expose, “Why U.S. military in Uganda? Soros fingerprints all over it,” Klein broke the news of Soros’ ties both to the political pressure behind Obama’s decision and to the African nation’s fledgling oil industry.

“Soros’ own Open Society Institute is one of only three nongovernmental funders of the Global Centre for Responsibility to Protect, a doctrine that has been cited many times by activists urging intervention in Uganda,” Klein wrote. “Several of the doctrine’s main founders also sit on boards with Soros, who is a major proponent of the doctrine.”

Klein also noted that the president emeritus of the International Crisis Group is also the chief author of “Responsibility to Protect,” the military doctrine used by Obama to justify the U.S.-led NATO campaign in Libya.

The Occupy Movement and Anonymous are the poisonous fruit of the American Spring. Everyone that touches it becomes tainted. They are being used by elites such as Piven, Soros, Van Jones, Ayers and Dohrn to bring down our Constitutional Republic once and for all. Their ilk has been at it for over a hundred years and they think victory is so close they can almost taste it.

For those of you who say that Piven and Soros are old and toothless, you’d better face their evil in its totality. Just because you don’t believe they want to bring us down, doesn’t mean they don’t believe in it wholeheartedly. Piven will revel in the chaos this spring and summer. She passes out poisonous fruit in the form of class warfare and hatred like candy. Soros is using his billions to reshape the world in his image and foment as much mayhem as he can in order to garner himself ever more power and wealth. Both of these people fancy themselves as divine beings, rather than what they really are – old spiders spinning killing webs with the help of useful idiots, the Occupy Movement and Anonymous.

There's no doubt that one reason Islamic Jihad is continuing its rocket fire on southern Israel is its glaring lack of success. After firing more than 200 rockets at the Negev, they still haven't killed any Israelis.

What's more, the Iron Dome anti-missile defense system, which has shot down many of the rockets, is proving to be a formidable obstacle, one the terror group has not been able to overcome, even by firing a barrage of rockets at the same time.

The clear goal of the Islamic Jihad, meanwhile, is to show Hamas up and shore up its position in its competition with the rulers of Gaza. Over the years, Islamic Jihad has turned from a loyal ally of Hamas to a homegrown opposition, one that believes it has exposed Hamas' nakedness in public.

In recent days Jihad spokesmen have repeatedly hinted that Hamas has abandoned the "resistance" against Israel, while it remains the spearhead in the struggle against the "Zionist enemy."

One can assume that Iran is encouraging Islamic Jihad's secretary general, Ramadan Shallah, who is still in Damascus, to spur his men in Gaza to continue the rocket fire. Diverting Israel's attention back to Gaza and away from Iran's nuclear program surely doesn't do Tehran any harm.

How would you feel if you worked for a state or local government for 20 or 30 years only to have your pension slashed dramatically or taken away entirely? Well, this exact scenario is playing out from coast to coast and in the years ahead millions of elderly Americans are going to be affected by broken promises and vanishing pensions.

Many Americans that have been basing their financial futures on their pensions are waking up one day and finding that their pensions are either gone or have been cut back dramatically.

According to Northwestern University Professor John Rauh, the latest estimate of the total amount of unfunded pension and healthcare obligations for state and local governments across the United States is 4.4 trillion dollars.

Well, either pension benefits are going to have to be cut a lot more all over America or taxes will need to be raised dramatically. Either way, we are all going to feel the pain of these broken promises.

There simply is not enough money out there to keep all of the pension commitments that have been made. Something has got to give. In the end, millions of elderly Americans will likely be plunged into poverty as pensions disappear.

Some local governments around the nation are already declaring bankruptcy and are either eliminating pensions or are cutting them very deeply.

Less than two months after Barack Obama's inauguration, Newsweek magazine ran a cover story written by its editor, Jon Meacham, with the title "We Are All Socialists Now." The giddy faux-journalists in the predominately leftist media were still intoxicated from their November 2008 victory parties, achieved after easily winning the White House and Democrat control of nearly 60% of the Senate and House Representatives.

In the three years and two months that have now defined the Obama presidency, the United States of America is not the same country with unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness guaranteed by the Constitution.

...governments collapse under their own weight. It will happen very soon in the United States, because we have crossed the point of no return. The massive debt of the United States is now unstoppable. We need to voluntarily cut the federal budget by 50% immediately, or the monetary system will explode. You cannot borrow your way out of debt any more than you can drink your way sober, and we now borrow 43 cents out of every dollar the federal government spends. Since no politicians in Washington, D.C. have the will to stop it, or even slow it down, the Federal Reserve will take the easy way out and devalue the currency. There is no other way. Sooner or later we will be bringing in wheelbarrows full of dollars to buy our groceries. When Greece collapses, the dominoes will start falling. And Greece is on the brink today.

Soon we will be forced into austerity whether we like it or not, and it will not come without extensive pain. There will be conflicts, and there will be deaths that follow. There will be lawlessness, and there will be great strife. The über-rich will survive, but the middle class will be disintegrated. The inevitable all happened while we were being lied to by the left. They didn't want prosperity for all; they wanted power for themselves.

The growth of the state comes at the detriment of the private sector. Even though the United States has been on this path to destruction for almost 80 years, today it is happening at warp speed, due to back-to-back-to-back trillion-dollar-plus budget deficits. Incredibly, we seem to take it for granted that it can go on forever. It cannot. When it all crumbles, we will awake to a completely different country. Gone will be the gifts from God of freedom and natural rights. Waiting in the wings to replace it we face a seductive oppressor and the sophistry that allows it to survive.
