In The News:

North Korea, which this month threatened to carry out a fourth nuclear test, may be closer than previously thought to mounting a nuclear warhead on a missile, some experts say, making a mockery of years of U.N. sanctions aimed at curbing its efforts to obtain nuclear weapons.

No one outside the inner circle of North Korea’s nuclear program likely knows what advances the country has made. But there has been a shift in thinking by some who study the North since it conducted a nuclear test in February last year and amid on-off indications that it is preparing another.
The isolated and poverty-stricken country, which regularly threatens to destroy the United States and South Korea in a sea of flames, defends its nuclear program as a “treasured sword” to counter what it sees as American-led hostility. And there is now “tremendous technological motivation” to conduct a nuclear test as the North races to perfect the technology to miniaturize warheads, a South Korean nuclear expert said.
“The field deployment of a nuclear missile is imminent,” said Kim Tae-woo, former head of South Korea’s state-run Korea Institute for National Unification.
Diplomatic sources told reporters that China, the North’s lone ally, had used diplomatic channels to warn Pyongyang against a nuclear test — another possible sign that it is considering such a move.
Experts say the delivery vehicle of choice for North Korea’s first nuclear warhead would most likely be the midrange Rodong missile, which has a range of 1,300 km.

“Given the number of years that North Korea has been working at it, my assessment is that they can mount a warhead on a Rodong,” Mark Fitzpatrick, director of nonproliferation and disarmament at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, said. “Also, there is no doubt that Pakistan can mount a nuclear warhead on its version of the Rodong. . . . It is reasonable to assume that North Korea can too. How reliable the warhead would be is another question.”

“North Korea is well aware of Pakistan’s and Iran’s work on miniaturizing nuclear warheads for (their) missiles, which originally were copies of the Rodong missile,” he said. “North Korea would have likely made the same judgment as the two countries about the importance of starting early to develop a nuclear warhead for its missiles.”

Muslim Arabs marked Jerusalem Day on Wednesday by violently attacking Jews throughout the capital’s Old City.
The violence began atop the Temple Mount, where a mob of Arab youth heckled Jewish visitors and hurled stones at Israeli police, injuring one officer.
As more security forces entered the compound, the perpetrators barricaded themselves inside the Al Aqsa Mosque, from where they continued to hurl stones and firecrackers.

Police quickly closed to the holy site to all Jews and Christians for fear of further Muslim violence.
Nearby, another gang of Arab youth attacked Jewish high school students who were visiting from the Golan Heights to celebrate Jerusalem Day. As the group of students passed through the Old City, they were suddenly attacked with stones and tear gas. No serious injuries were reported.
Despite the grave nature of the attacks, a group of rabbis who managed to visit the Temple Mount before it was closed said they were actually heartened by the violence, which demonstrates that Islam fears what the future might hold.
“We believe that the rebuilding of the Temple will be a miracle, and that if we stand up for our rights, G-d will deliver a miracle to us,” Rabbi Chaim Richman of the Temple Institute told Arutz 7. “Seeing the opposition makes us laugh, because it is clear that they are afraid that the Jewish people are returning to the Temple Mount.”
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered a number of Jerusalem Day speeches insisting that Israel would never again allow the city to be divided.
“Jerusalem is Israel’s eternity, it is our heart, and we are guarding our heart - the heart of the nation. We will never divide our heart,” Netanyahu said during a traditional Jerusalem Day visit to the Mercaz Harav Yeshiva, a bastion of religious Zionism.
The Messianic blog “One for Israel” has a strong article on additional reasons why Jerusalem remains centrally important for local Israeli believers.
This Jerusalem Day marks the 47th anniversary of the reunification of the city in the 1967 Six Day War. For the 19 years prior, the city was divided, and the eastern half illegally occupied by neighboring Jordan.

"Sometimes I ask myself, why me? Why did this have to happen again?" says 31-year-old Andile from the Khayelitsha township in Cape Town, South Africa. "But the problem is I could have got it anywhere, on the bus, in a taxi, in my work. It's everywhere."

Andile has extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB), a form of the airborne disease that is resistant to the four main groups of drugs used to treat it, meaning treatment can take years and requires alternative drugs that have more side effects.

TB has long been known as a disease of poverty. Dense housing, shared living space, poor ventilation, poor nutrition and poor healthcare systems are the prime conditions for the infection to spread, and thrive. This ancient disease was known as the "White Plague" in 18th century Europe and still kills more than one million people a year globally.

It's a complicated disease with the potential to affect many parts of the body and it can remain latent in people for many years, leaving them unaware they are infected. The main active form of the disease affects the lungs; if left untreated it can cause considerable lung damage, resulting in eventual death.

"The disease has reached a public health emergency in South Africa," explains Keertan Dheda, professor of medicine at the University of Cape Town. "We treat half a million cases a year and today, the epidemic has taken a turn with drug resistance. We treat 8,000 cases of resistance a year and now a chunk of those have developed resistance beyond XDR-TB -- incurable TB."

Netanyahu: We Intend To Build Everywhere In A United Jerusalem

This story is significant for a variety of reasons. PM Netanyahu seems very sincere and passionate in these statements about an undivided Jerusalem within the Nation of Israel. If so, the peace deal is not only dead, it is deeply buried. Gaining east Jerusalem and dividing the city has always been a cornerstone to any of the mythical peace plans that have been discussed, at least from the Palestinian perspective.

It isn't a stretch of the imagination to consider that Netanyahu is making a statement to the U.S. as well as the Palestinians. The specific message that PM Netanyahu is sending to the world is anyone's guess, but one obvious implication would be the idea that Israel (finally) realizes that they really do stand alone in this world.

The bigger question may be "what comes next?" - and that is a question worth pondering. If there is obviously no hope of peace through traditional methods then options may include a forceable transfer of land to the PA or a massive increase in violence in the region. It seems highly doubtful that this will end quietly.

Building everywhere in Jerusalem, including areas over the pre-1967 lines, is the best response to those who deny Israel’s right to exist, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday.

“The real answer,” he said, “is to continue to strengthen the State of Israel, to continue to build in Jerusalem and to continue to develop it – everywhere – without stopping.”

The prime minister spoke in the evening at a special ceremony on Ammunition Hill to mark 47 years since Jerusalem’s reunification after the 1967 Six Day War.

It was one of four emotional speeches he delivered in a 24-hour period, including in the Knesset, in which he explained that the capital was the heart of the Jewish people and must never be divided.

At a special cabinet meeting he added that he saw the building of Jerusalem as a “historical mandate” for the Jewish people.

He made his comments at a time when the US has asked both Israelis and Palestinians not to take steps that would threaten the possibly of renewed negotiations, which broke off at the end of April.

Nabil Abu Rudaineh, spokesman for PA President Mahmoud Abbas, warned that Netanyahu’s remarks about Jerusalem would place obstacles before American efforts to revive the peace talks.

There can be no peace agreement with Israel without east Jerusalem becoming the capital of the Palestinian state, Rudaineh said.

The Palestinian position was shared by Arabs and the rest of the international community, he said.

Rudaineh cautioned that Israel’s refusal to accept this position would have “grave consequences and would not contribute at all to prospects of achieving peace.”

Settlers have warned that Netanyahu’s words do not match his actions. They contend that in practice, Netanyahu has stopped the issuance of housing tenders and the advancement of building plans, both in West Bank settlements and Jewish neighborhoods in Jerusalem over the Green Line.

Late Wednesday night, they met with Netanyahu on this matter. It was the first time the Council of Jewish Communities of Judea and Samaria had met with the prime minister in over two years.

An Israeli official said that building work continued in all areas of Jerusalem and that Netanyahu would never agree to halt it.

Late Tuesday night, in Jerusalem’s Mercaz Harav Yeshiva, Netanyahu spoke passionately about Jerusalem’s central place in the Jewish historical and spiritual narrative.

“As we believe that our capital is the heart of our nation, it must be united... it must be connected to the great soul of eternal Israel, to the Torah and to the intellectual assets created by our sages throughout the generations.”

Both there and in the Knesset on Wednesday afternoon, he spoke of the modern city and its ancient sites.

He mentioned the neighborhoods Ramot, Gilo and Har Homa, as well as sites of historical significance like the Old City and the Mount of Olives.

At the start of the special cabinet meeting on Jerusalem, he said, “I have heard that there are those who would like to cancel this day as a national holiday. I say that this is not just a national holiday; this is a historic, national miracle.”

At that meeting, the government approved a series of decisions aimed at strengthening the capital by encouraging economic development, tourism and cultural growth.

Among the decisions garnering approval was the investment of approximately NIS 55 million to restore the Jewish Quarter’s Tiferet Yisrael synagogue, built in 1872, which was badly damaged during the War of Independence.

The restoration project is scheduled to be completed in 2017.

The Israel Lands Authority agreed to extend Shaare Zedek Medical Center’s lease agreement at no cost, and to allocate land for the further expansion of the hospital’s medical needs.

Additionally, it was agreed to invest NIS 55m. over three years to complete construction of the National Campus for the Archeology of Israel, in coordination with the Israel Antiquities Authority, which has raised over NIS 200m.

In terms of culture, NIS 31m. is to be invested in the city’s growing cultural infrastructure, including television and film production to better promote the capital.

Pope Francis 'Unfriendly Visit': A Slap In The Face

After 1700 years of ongoing harassment, forced conversions, massacres and pogroms, one was looking forward to a different relationship in the 21st century between the Jewish world and Catholicism.

The latest Papal visit has destroyed a great deal of the good work of Vatican II and those who laboured in the fields of building bridges. Each Papal visit to the Holy Land is filled with symbolic gestures and each move is calculated and orchestrated, and this visit was meant to embarrass and berate the Jewish State.

The visit by Pope Francis with his two wingmen, Rabbi Abraham Skovka and Imam Omar Abboud, was all part of the effort to help set the stage for a most severe attack by the Vatican on the Jewish homeland.

Pope Francis chose first to visit with Abu Mazen who is in the midst of forming a National Unity Government between Fatah and Hamas (a recognized international terrorist organization). Also, His Holiness would fly directly into what he calls the Palestinian State and not the Palestinian Authority.

Pope Francis’ dramatic gesture at the security barrier was a paparazzi delight. It created an instant iconic photo that will be used by Islamists around the world. The Pope, dressed in his splendid white robe, accorded this security barrier the same status as the holy Western Wall of the Temple.

His hand and head were gently placed next to the antisemitic graffiti comparing the security wall, which has protected Israeli civilians from Islamist terrorists, as a wall that symbolized the Warsaw Ghetto wall. The Pope could not have chosen to insult the Jewish people with any greater gesture. What an insult to the victims of Nazism. What a mockery of history.

The Warsaw Ghetto confined destitute Jews prior to their departure to Auschwitz. They were starved, beaten and deprived of all human dignity by the Nazis. How grotesque to compare the security barrier wall to the Warsaw Ghetto wall. Of course, the analogy is not lost. The Nazis built the wall and now Jews have built what Pope Francis deems to be a similar wall to contain the Palestinians. A new lie in the history of blood libels against the Jewish people.

Just as the Jewish world was finally beginning, in the post Holocaust era, to feel a sense of comfort and understanding from the Vatican, Pope Francis has destroyed the trust of the average Jew on the street. Of course, Jewish leaders will still rush to the Vatican for the five minute talk and photo op and the wonderful smiles that will be exhibited at those meetings. It will take more than photo ops for the Jewish street to trust the Vatican.

Every person of faith should ask a simple question: Why would His Holiness, Pope Francis, invite Abu Mazen who is planning an entente with Hamas, whose mission is the destruction of the Jewish homeland, to come to Rome and pray together with Shimon Peres, the outgoing President of Israel, when there is an opportunity to pray together in Jerusalem (inviting Peres was not lost on the Israeli Government, as an insult to the Prime Minister).

There will be many apologists, many interpretations, and many efforts, I am sure, by good Catholic leaders to try to heal the wounds and the insults, and not even the forced visit by His Holiness, Pope Francis, to the Jewish victims of Islamic terror will make amends for the damage. Giving aid and comfort to the Fatah-Hamas Alliance will long resonate with the Jewish people who are fulfilling the words of the Covenant and returning to build the Jewish Homeland.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman were right when they blamed the noxious anti-Israel incitement rampant in Europe for Saturday’s murderous shooting attack at the Jewish Museum in Brussels and the assault and battery of two Jewish brothers outside their synagogue in a Paris suburb later that day.

Anti-Israel incitement is ubiquitous in Europe and is appearing in ever-widening circles of the Western world as a whole.
Until this week, the Catholic Church stayed out of the campaign to dehumanize Jews and malign the Jewish state.

In one of his blander pronouncements during the papal visit, Netanyahu mentioned on Monday that Jesus spoke Hebrew. There was nothing incorrect about Netanyahu’s statement. Jesus was after all, an Israeli Jew.
But Francis couldn’t take the truth. So he indelicately interrupted his host, interjecting, “Aramaic.”
Netanyahu was probably flustered. True, at the time, educated Jews spoke and wrote in Aramaic. And Jesus was educated. But the language of the people was Hebrew. And Jesus preached to the people, in Hebrew.

Netanyahu responded, “He spoke Aramaic, but he knew Hebrew.”

Reuters’ write-up of the incident tried to explain away the pope’s rudeness and historical revisionism, asserting, “Modern-day discourse about Jesus is complicated and often political.” The report went on to delicately mention, “Palestinians sometimes describe Jesus as a Palestinian. Israelis object to that.”
Israelis “object to that” because it is a lie.
The Palestinians – and their Islamic and Western supporters – de-Judaize Jesus and proclaim him Palestinian in order to libel the Jews and criminalize the Jewish state. It seems like it would be the job of the Bishop of Rome to set the record straight. But instead, Francis’s discourtesy indicated that at a minimum, he doesn’t think the fact of Jesus’s Judaism should be mentioned in polite company.

Francis’s behavior during his public meeting with Netanyahu could have been brushed off as much ado about nothing if it hadn’t occurred the day after his symbolic embrace of some of the worst anti-Jewish calumnies of our times, and his seeming adoption of replacement theology during his homily in Bethlehem.
Consider first Francis’s behavior at the security barrier.

Reasonable people disagree about the contribution the security fence makes to the security of Israelis. But no one can reasonably doubt that it was built to protect Israelis from Palestinian terrorist murderers. And Francis ought to know this. Francis’s decision to hold a photo-op at the security barrier was an act of extreme hostility against Israel and the Jewish people.

Had he actually cared about the cause of peace and non-violence he claims to champion, Francis might have averred from stopping at the barrier, recognizing that doing so would defile the memory of the Ohayons and of hundreds of other Israeli Jewish families who were destroyed by Palestinian bloodlust and anti-Semitic depravity.
Instead, Francis “spontaneously” got out of his popemobile, walked over to a section of the barrier, and reverentially touched it and kissed it as if it were the Wailing Wall.
The graffiti on the section of the barrier Francis stopped at reinforced his anti-Semitic position. One of the slogans called for the embrace of the BDS campaign.

And that is nothing compared to the other slogan on the barrier. That one equated the Palestinians in Bethlehem to the Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto. In other words, it denied the Holocaust.
By standing there, kissing the barrier with its Holocaust denying slogan, Francis gave Vatican license to Holocaust denial.

And that was just the beginning.

Pope Francis met with Fatah chief Mahmoud Abbas at his presidential palace in Bethlehem. When Israel transferred control over Jesus’s birthplace to Abbas’s predecessor Yasser Arafat in 1996, Arafat seized the Greek Orthodox monastery next to the Church of the Nativity and turned it into his – and later Abbas’s – official residence.
Standing next to Abbas on seized church property, the pope called Abbas “a man of peace.”
Abbas returned the favor by calling for Israel to release all Palestinian terrorists from Israeli prisons. And the pope – who interrupted Netanyahu when he told an historic truth – said nothing.

Israelis and Jews around the world need to be aware of what is happening. Francis is leading the Catholic Church in a distressingly anti-Jewish direction.

A lot happened in Europe over the (United States celebrated) Memorial Day weekend. But none of it was good for the Jews.

On Saturday there was a shooting that killed four at a Brussels Jewish museum. Soon after, two Orthodox Jews were severely beaten in Paris. For those who don’t know, Belgium and France are hotbeds of anti-Semitism. At the same time, the elections to the European Union parliament were held, and the anti-EU parties, many of whom are also anti-Semitic, saw a huge surge in their vote. For example, thanks to this election, the European Parliament is set to seat its first fully-fledged neo-Nazis members, from Germany and Greece. Also, parties which have been dominated by or made up of anti-Semites in the past or present, like the French National Front, the Italian 5-Star Movement of former comic Beppe Grillo, and theFreedom Party of Austria, have all had strong showings.
All of this was easily predictable. In fact, I predicted a rise in anti-Semitic sentiments and attacks in Europe more than a year ago. And let me reiterate what I wrote earlier -- the Jews of Europe need to leave Europe now, before it is too late.

Why?  Consider these facts:
1) Europe is dying demographically. As David Goldman has said of Southern Europeans, “You are dying because you wish to die; that is, because you do not wish to rear children.” By 2040, Southern Europeans will have about 60% more elderly dependents than now, and about half as many young workers. And things are not much different for the rest of Europe. This will inevitably lead to chaos and violence, which will (in turn) inescapably negatively impact European Jews.
2) The only demographically growing populations in Europe are Muslim immigrants, who are also not assimilating into the general public, but instead radicalizing against it. These Muslims are increasingly anti-Semitic, but because the European elites are unwilling to limit the inflow of these immigrants or to police the Saudi Arabian or Muslim Brotherhood sponsored imams, who indoctrinate this vicious anti-Semitism, there is no hope that anything effective will be done to mitigate the damage.
3) The European economy, outside Germany, is also (economically) dying. Partly as a result of their demographic problems, the European economies willeventually collapse, along with their social safety net. Poor fiscal management by Europe’s public officials is another big problem. “The best economic estimates are that Europe is facing another ‘lost decade; of economic growth -- stagnant economies will do nothing to reduce sky-high unemployment among young people, and the need for more Eurocrisis bailouts will keep taxes high.”
4) Many mainstream European groups or leaders dislike or hate Israel, and rarely distinguish between Jews and the State of Israel. They are representative of the European (non-Muslim) population, where anti-Semitic attitudes remain at “disturbingly high levels.” For this reason, the Boycott, Divestment & Sanctions movement is flowering in Europe, even as the Palestinians have been proven, again and again, to be the real impediment to  peace in the region.

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu had truth on his side when he explained, regarding the attack in Brussels, “This act of murder is the result of constant incitement against Jews and their state.  Slander and lies against the State of Israel continue to be heard on European soil even as the crimes against humanity and acts of murder being perpetrated in our region (by others) are systematically ignored. Our response to this hypocrisy is to constantly state the truth, continue a relentless fight against terrorism and build up our strength.”
However, the truth alone will not save the Jews of Europe. They need to leave, and leave now, before things get any worse.

Moving Towards A Cashless Society - Another Stepping Stone

This story is quite remarkable for a prophecy watcher. We know that the "mark of the beast" will be a factor during the Tribulation, and no one will be able to buy or sell without this mark. With this "mark" serving to control finances, then obviously a single, world-wide financial system would be in place; one that would also involve having a single currency.

Such control of finances by the use of this "mark" would obviously necessitate having a cashless society - simply because cash transactions are almost impossible to control. Additionally, if the "mark" is indeed an insertable/injectable/tattoo microchip into the hand, then cash wouldn't be an option in this scenario.

From the article below, it appears that we're taking yet another step towards the Tribulation:

Will Israel be the first cashless society on the entire planet?  A committee chaired by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s chief of staff has come up with a three phase plan to “all but do away with cash transactions in Israel”.  Individuals and businesses would still be permitted to conduct cash transactions in small amounts (at least initially), but the eventual goal is to force Israeli citizens to conduct as much business as possible using electronic forms of payment.  In fact, it has been reported that Israeli officials believe that “cash is bad” because it fuels the underground economy and allows people to avoid paying taxes.  It is hoped that requiring most transactions to be conducted in cash will reduce crime and help balance the national budget.
And once 98 or 99 percent of all transactions are cashless, it will not be difficult for the Israeli government (or any other government) to go the rest of the way and ban cash transactions altogether.  But is a cashless society actually desirable?  This is a question that people all over the world will have to start asking as governments increasingly restrict the use of cash.
Back in September, it was announced that the Israeli government had formed a committee to “examine ways to eliminate cash from the Israeli economy”

The government on Tuesday authorized establishment of a committee that will examine ways to eliminate cash from the Israeli economy – the better to prevent citizens from cheating on their taxes. The committee will be chaired by Harel Locker, director of the Prime Minister’s Office.

This committee had the full backing of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and some of the goals of the committee included finding ways to increase tax revenue and prevent money laundering

Officials in the Prime Minister’s Office declared that “around the world, it is recognized that cash is a key element of the illegal economy and money laundering. It allows a wide gap between reported and actual incomes, with the corresponding effect on tax revenues.” By eliminating cash, the PMO said, “it will be possible to expand the tax base, and prevent money laundering.” The committee will study the issue from all its perspectives and make recommendations, the PMO said.

The committee has had quite a few months to examine these issues, and now they have come back with their recommendations.  Just this week we learned that a three phase plan is being proposed…

A special committee headed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s chief of staff, Harel Locker, has recommended a three-phase plan to all but do away with cash transactions in Israel.
The motivation for examining a cash-less economy is combatting money laundering and other tax-evasion tactics, thereby maximizing potential tax collection and greatly expanding the tax base. This is important considering the enormous strain put on Israel’s national budget by the army, healthcare system and other public services.
The committee estimated that the black market represents over 20 percent of Israel’s GDP, and cash is the facilitating factor. Cash enables tax evasion, money laundering and even financing terrorism.

So what do the specifics of the plan look like?
Well, there will be very strict limits on the use of cash for individuals and businesses, any violations will be considered criminal offenses, and all Israeli banks will be required to issue debit cards to all account holders

The following guidelines were set out by the committee for the short-term:

  • Limit business transactions done in cash or by check to NIS 7,500 ($2,150) immediately, and reduce that further to NIS 5,000 ($1,433) one year from the date of legislation;
  • Limit private transactions done in cash or by check to NIS 15,000 ($4,300);
  • Any violation of these limits would be a criminal offense warranting a stiff fine.

But of course this move toward a cashless society is not just happening in Israel.

In Sweden, it is estimated that just 3 percent of all transactions involve cash at this point.  In fact, according to an article in the Washington Post, some Swedish banks do not handle cash at all anymore…

In most Swedish cities, public buses don’t accept cash; tickets are prepaid or purchased with a cell phone text message. A small but growing number of businesses only take cards, and some bank offices — which make money on electronic transactions — have stopped handling cash altogether.
“There are towns where it isn’t at all possible anymore to enter a bank and use cash,” complains Curt Persson, chairman of Sweden’s National Pensioners’ Organization.

And the U.S. is starting to move in that direction as well.
According to a study conducted by MasterCard, approximately 80 percent of all consumer transactions in the United States are now cashless.
But isn’t there a downside to all of this?
Just about everything that we do in life involves money.  So yes, a government can track electronic payments to make sure taxes are being paid and money laundering is not happening, but it would also enable a government to do so much more.
If a government can track all of your transactions, it will essentially be able to monitor everywhere you go and pretty much keep track of virtually everything that you do.
If you doubt this, just try to live without any money some time.
You won’t get very far without putting some gas in your vehicle.
And without being able to buy food, you will get hungry pretty quickly.
Are you starting to understand?
This is why governments love the idea of moving toward a cashless society.  It would give them an immensely powerful surveillance tool.
So let us hope that this does not happen in Israel or anywhere else in the world either.

Big Crisis = Big Change: Awaiting The 10 Kings

We know from the statue described in Daniel 2 and further described in Daniel 7 that we will see a reuniting of the Roman Empire and the next stage of development leading into the Tribulation will be the "10 kings" stage. In other words, the reunited Roman Empire will somehow develop into this "10 kings' stage.  Revelation 17:12 tells us that once formed, the 10 kings won't be in existence for long, so one can assume this stage will develop just before the Tribulation.

The reunification of the Roman Empire, is in place now - which we have in the form of the current EU and Med. Union. The next stage in this progression of events towards a world empire is the "10 kings" stage - which will then give rise to the antichrist and his world rule.

Big changes like this typically require some kind of crisis to upset the status quo.

Due to the last elections, we can see that the EU may be in the midst of a "big crisis" and as a result, it is worthwhile to maintain a keen eye on any future developments within the EU, as we may be seeing the early development of "big change". Such changes could usher in the 10 kings stage. When, how and why are remaining questions yet to be determined. It is also worth remembering that Daniel 7 also informs us that the revived Roman Empire would not remain united, as it will be a mixture of "iron and clay":

Sunday’s elections for the European parliament were an important stage on the road to ruin, which has now been traveled for almost 60 years, but they did not signal arrival at the final destination. From the standpoint of both its founders and its critics, that destination is a federal European state, and the transport system taking us there is the so-called “functionalist” theory of integration. Under this theory, Europe is supposed to be integrated function by function — coal and steel production, trade diplomacy, trade in goods and services, legal rules, police functions, defense, foreign policy, currency, etc., etc. — until its peoples and governments wake up one morning and realize that, Hey, we’re living in the same state/country/nation/polity/whatever. Isn’t that great! Henry Kissinger will be phoning any minute to congratulate us.

The single most vital missing ingredient in the functionalist recipe, however, is a European demos. “European” is no more than a geographical expression. There are Frenchmen, Germans, Brits, Italians, and Dutchmen, but there is no European people united by sentiment, common fellowship, language, historical institutions, the mystic chords of memory, and a sense of overriding vital mutual interests. There is the “vanguard” of a possible future European people in the form of those politicians and bureaucrats who go by the name of Eurocrats. But vanguards are no guarantee of a successful future demos, as the dissolutions of the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia illustrate horribly.

Without a demos, however, functionalism eventually fails to function. It runs into a crisis and it finds that it cannot call on the loyalty of its citizens to solve it. Indeed, its creates a crisis by removing powers from its constituent governments that the citizens would prefer at home. Eventually it provokes a rebellion. And that is what arrived on Sunday.

The EU’s solutions to the euro crisis are worse than the crisis itself in their effects on ordinary people. People are enraged that they are not allowed to obstruct or even question the policies imposed by this functionalist express. In short, the euro crisis woke up European voters to the undemocratic nature of the European Union. Hence the rebellions in Sunday’s elections.

Prudent leaders in national politics recognize such earthquakes and trim policy accordingly. But the leaders of the parties in the European parliament are the opposite of prudent; they are fanatical devotees of the undemocratic process of European integration that sparked the weekend revolts. They will work together across the aisle in an unacknowledged “grand coalition” rather than concede anything serious to the new arrivals. That will cause tensions with their colleagues in national governments, who will want to appease their publics’ opinions — which in most cases will be their own domestic political supporters. But the likelihood is that although the European parliament will become a more raucous and rowdy place, its bipartisan-establishment majority will push ahead with “functionalist integration,” euro and all, with the support of the European Commission and its bureaucracies.
But since functionalism eventually fails to function, there will be another crisis down the road, and a larger electoral rebellion in response. And at some point the people will defeat the vanguard. Just not this time.

Bilderberg: Elites Desperate To rescue Global Government

Anti-EU revolution, Ukraine crisis threaten to derail global government.
The 2014 Bilderberg meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark is taking place amidst a climate of panic for many of the 120 globalists set to attend the secretive confab, with Russia’s intransigence on the crisis in Ukraine and the anti-EU revolution sweeping Europe posing a serious threat to the unipolar world order Bilderberg spent over 60 years helpingto build.

Inside sources confirm to Infowars that the elite conference, which will take place from Thursday onwards at the five star Marriott Hotel, will center around how to derail a global political awakening that threatens to hinder Bilderberg’s long standing agenda to centralize power into a one world political federation, a goal set to beadvanced with the passage of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), which will undoubtedly be a central topic of discussion at this year’s meeting.

The TTIP represents an integral component of Bilderberg’s attempt to rescue the unipolar world by creating a “world company,” initially a free trade area, which would connect the United States with Europe. Just as the European Union started as a mere free trade area and was eventually transformed into a political federation which controls upwards of 50 per cent of its member states’ laws and regulations with total contempt for national sovereignty and democracy, TTIP is designed to accomplish the same goal, only on a bigger scale.

The deal is being spearheaded by Obama’s U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman, a Wall Street insider and a CFR member, Bilderberg’s sister organization. Froman is simultaneously helping to build another block of this global government, the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which is a similar project involving Asian countries.
Given that Bilderberg schemed to create the Euro single currency as far back as 1955 (Bilderberg chairmanÉtienne Davignon bragged about how the Euro single currency was a brainchild of the Bilderberg in 2009 interview), the results of the European elections are sure to have stirred outright alarm amongst Bilderberg globalists who are aghast that their planned EU superstate is being eroded as a result of a populist resistance mainly centered around animosity towards uncontrolled immigration policies.

As well as TTIP and the fallout from the European election disaster, Bilderberg will be tackling a number of other key issues, most of which will revolve around the continued effort to centralize economic power under several different guises, including a carbon tax paid directly to the United Nations, with the financial hit being taken by individuals as big companies are granted special “waivers” that will allow them to continue to pollute.
The rumbling crisis in Ukraine and the relationship between Russia and NATO will also be a focal point of Bilderberg 2014. Globalists now consider Vladimir Putin to have ostracized Russia from the new world orderbecause he dared to “challenge the international system,” as John Kerry put it.
Bilderberg will discuss fears that Putin is intent on constructing an alternative world order based around the BRICS countries, a “multi-polar” system that would devastate the dollar as the world reserve currency and also heavily dilute the current US-EU-NATO power axis.

IMF's Lagarde Urges Tighter Coordination Among World's Central Banks To Ward Off Instability

Christine Lagarde, managing director of the International Monetary Fund, called on Sunday for closer cooperation among the world’s central banks to cope with the challenges of increasingly interlinked and complex financial systems.
Speaking at a dinner in Sintra, Portugal, to kick off the first annual ECB Forum conference, Lagarde said the potential gains from cooperation could be huge in times of distress as seen during the financial crisis.
“If policies are viewed only from a national perspective, we may end up in a world of ad hoc intervention, less rebalancing, and the potential to export financial instability,” she said in the text of her speech.
“This would be a world of possibly large welfare losses in many countries, with not just spillover effects – from advanced to emerging market economies, but also ‘spillbacks’ – feedback effects from emerging market to large advanced economies.”

The financial crisis has shown that coordinated international action helped prevent disruption spreading to economies around the globe, she said. And these upsides should not be forgotten as the crisis subsides.
“We need a concerted effort to examine the effectiveness of cooperative policy responses, their spillover effects, and their global welfare implications – also in light of the evolution of the financial system,” Lagarde said.

Jerusalem Troubled By The Rise Of Far Right In European Election

Jerusalem is worried about the results of this week’s European Parliament elections, in which far right and even neo-Nazi parties drastically gained strength, a senior Israeli official said late Monday.

“Of course it’s our business. We’re talking about rise of neo-fascist and neo-Nazi groups who managed to get elected and gained institutional respectability and will be able to exert influence over policy making,” said the diplomatic official, who is intimately familiar with European affairs

The comments to The Times of Israel were Israel’s first detailed response to the elections since results were announced Monday morning.
“Obviously it’s a matter of concern for us, because it’s going to influence the European Union’s relations to Israel and also because it affects Jews living in Europe,”  the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said.

While anticipated by analysts, the rightward shift – which included a decisive win for the National Front in France and will send one member of the German neo-Nazi party to Brussels — shocked Europe, with some observers speaking of an “earthquake” that will change the face of the continent. Many Jewish leaders expressed shock and outrage as well, drawing parallels between the election results and the shooting in the Jewish museum in Brussels, which killed four people, including two Israeli tourists.

While it would be an exaggeration to speak of the rise of a Fourth Reich in Europe – Israel’s Channel 2 news on Monday night accompanied its report on the elections with a graphic that showed a swastika superimposed on the European flag — the results, especially in Hungary and Greece, were worrisome, the official said.

“This attack and others — along with the results of the European election — demonstrate a strong turn towards anti-Semitism in Europe,” MK Dov Lipman (Yesh Atid) told Belgium’s ambassador to Israel, John Cornet d’Elzius, Tuesday at the Knesset. “And make no mistake about it — there is a direct connection between the way European leaders speak about Israel and the rise in anti-Semitism. If your leaders speak about delegitimization of Israel and use exaggerated and even inciting terms relating to Israel’s policies, that breeds these attacks and ideologies.”

On Monday, the World Jewish Congress released a statement declaring that the “future of European Jewry is at stake” after the elections. “Jews cannot be expected to remain silent when radical or extremist parties that used to be on the margins of politics make it into the top three in several countries, and in the case of France even come out on top,” WJC president Ronald S. Lauder said.

The Menace Of Russia And China: A Strategic Alliance Of U.S. Enemies

As Americans ponder gender issues, racism and collectivism… Russian battleships are in Shanghai for joint naval drills with the Chinese. The Russian anti-surface destroyer Bystry sailed into port ahead of the “Joint Sea-2014″ naval drills, in Shanghai along with a host of other ships.
As a contingent of Russia’s Navy Pacific Fleet glided into the waters of Shanghai to participate in a show ofsolidarity with the Chinese military, no one seemed to notice or care that two super powers are joining forces in preparation for war and conquest. The Russian-Chinese naval training was dubbed ‘Joint Sea-2014.’ The military drills will take place in the northern part of the East China Sea. They start today and go thru May 26th.

The “Joint Sea” naval drills are being held for the third time. Last year, training took place in the Sea of Japan with about 20 ships taking part, during what was widely seen as Russia and China flexing their muscles amid the territorial dispute between China and a number of its neighbors, including the Philippines and Vietnam.
This year’s exercises hold particular importance for China, as they are taking place amid the persisting tensions between Tokyo and Beijing, not far from the disputed Senkaku Islands known as the Diaoyu Islands in China. Tensions are rising with countries taking sides, but it is obvious to the world and anyone paying attention that Russia and China have superior might and forces. A ‘red’ alliance has formed that could shake the world and topple governments, realigning world powers and eradicating freedom. It’s a Progressive/Marxist dream come true. Russia and China share a common enemy in the US and would love to rid the world of the United States.

As the flags of Russia and China hung majestically and territorially together, sailors from both countries stood at attention and in solidarity for their tyrannical leaders. Their presence hails the drills that will take place between the two monoliths, where the Chinese will have six battleships doing maneuvers along side their Russian counterparts.
The drill will entail 14 ships, two submarines, nine warplanes, six shipboard helicopters and two operational detachments of marines from both sides. This will be done from the Usun naval military base in Shanghai. Notes and battle plans will be compared and brainstormed by both powers. I have no doubt that divvying up the geopolitical landscape of the planet will be discussed at length, while many laughs will be had over the United States, their leadership or lack thereof and their weakened stance on the world stage.

China Attacks, Sinks Vietnamese Fishing Vessel, Situation 'Very Tense'

China has escalated geopolitical tensions to 11 on the Spinal Tap amplifier of seriousness. With over 70 vessels in and around the Paracel Islands - where China has provocatively placed an oil rig in disputed Vietnamese territorial waters - it was only a matter of time before the blue touch paper was lit. While Vietnam has not responded yet, the Coast Guard warned "the situation at the site it very tense."

“It sank,” ministry spokesman Le Hai Binh said of the Vietnamese vessel. “It was rammed by a Chinese boat.”

Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry held a press conference on Friday when officials stressed the country’s historical claim to the Paracels.

“Historical and legal evidence shows that Vietnam has absolute sovereignty in the Paracel and Spratly archipelagos,” said Tran Duy Hai, deputy head of Vietnam’s National Border Committee.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang disagreed.

“Seeing that the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry held a press conference last Friday on the subject, I felt it was extremely ridiculous,” he said at a briefing on Monday. “The Paracels are the indisputable territory of the Chinese people.”

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah: 'Jihad Will Only End When Society Can Get Rid Of America'

Iran's supreme leader has said that his country's struggle will only end when it defeats U.S.-led oppression.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei told members of parliament in Tehran that Iran must be armed and 'have the capability to defend itself' in a 'world full of thieves'.
His comments came as negotiations with the international community over Iran's nuclear programme ran into a stalemate, with Tehran saying world powers were 'demanding too much'.
