A just-released video depicts the moments after Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was downed near the village of Hrabove, Ukraine, July 17, the Associated Press reported. Residents can be seen running to the area where MH17 crashed. A large cloud of black smoke and burning wreckage can be seen in the background with debris strewn across a street near several houses. All 298 passengers and crew aboard MH17 were killed.

(Reuters) - Russian state-controlled TV has broadcast what it called "sensational" photographs, which it said supported Moscow's theory that Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was shot down by a Ukrainian fighter jet.

Several commentators who have examined the photographs have described them as forgeries, however.

The photographs, said to be taken by a Western satellite, appear to show a fighter jet firing a missile at a passenger plane over eastern Ukraine where the Malaysian airliner was shot down on July 17, killing all 298 people on board.

Spiegel: Review Finds Rebels Shot Down MH17 In Ukraine -- Deutsche Welle

A review by Germany's foreign intelligence agency has found that MH17 was brought down by a missile fired by separatists. Russia and Ukraine have blamed each other for the plane's downing.

A detailed analysis conducted by Germany's federal intelligence service (BND) concluded that separatists near Donetsk were responsible for bringing down Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, the news magazine Spiegel reported on Sunday.

The Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17 while on route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. All 298 passengers on board were killed, most of them Dutch nationals.

BND President Gerhard Schindler presented the agency's findings, including satellite images and diverse photo evidence, to members of the parliamentary control committee responsible for monitoring the work of German intelligence on October 8.

Fighting Forces MH17 Investigators To Turn Back Again In Ukraine -- CNN

Donetsk, Ukraine (CNN) -- Dutch and Australian experts trying to reach the crash site of Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 in war-torn eastern Ukraine turned back for the second day Monday after hearing explosions and being told of heavy fighting in the area.

The group -- including officials from the Netherlands, Australia and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe -- returned to Donetsk, according to the Dutch-led investigation team.

Among other things, the team had hoped to work on the retrieval of human remains from the fields strewn with wreckage from the passenger jet, which had 298 people on board when a suspected surface-to-air missile brought it down July 17.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was blown out of the sky one week ago on Thursday, deepening tensions between Russia and the West and thrusting at least 10 countries whose citizens were on board into the middle of a war between Ukraine’s government and pro-Russian rebels, who Western intelligence officials suspect shot the plane down.

Yet for all of the diplomatic frenzy that has followed the disaster, there is no sign of an investigation here.
